VISA INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL ATTENDEES

Researchers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals from around the world are invited to attend Obesity 2009, the 27th Annual Scientific Meeting of The Obesity Society. Foreign nationals from certain countries must obtain a temporary travel visa (B-1) to attend the meeting.  Such applications are normally done through the US Embassy or Consulate in their country.  You may contact the appropriate Consular Section at the Embassy or Consulate online for visa procedures, including how to schedule an interview appointment, pay fees and much more.

Detailed instructions on how to obtain a visa can be found online at the US Department of State Business Visa Center and the National Academies' International Visitors Office. To assist foreign visitors in obtaining visas, we have registered this conference with the Department of State.

A letter of invitation for international delegates and an information sheet on obtaining a US visa are available for downloading.  A copy of the letter of invitation, along with copies of meeting registration and hotel reservation confirmations, will help to speed up the visa application and approval process.

Note: Visa applicants are advised to apply as soon as they decide to travel to the United States. Depending on the country of origin, it may take 3 to 4 months to process visa applications.
